Who We Are
About Suba Eco Travellers
Founded in 2018 by a group of passionate Abasuba community members, Suba Eco Travellers emerged from a vision to share the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Western Kenya with the world while preserving it for future generations. What began as small guided tours around Rusinga Island has grown into a comprehensive eco-tourism enterprise that spans the entire Western Kenya region.
Our founders, all native to the Abasuba community, recognized the untapped potential for sustainable tourism that could benefit local communities while protecting the fragile ecosystems of Lake Victoria and its surroundings. With deep knowledge of local traditions, natural landscapes, and wildlife, they created experiences that go beyond typical tourism to offer authentic connections with both nature and culture.
To provide authentic, sustainable travel experiences that preserve Western Kenya's natural environments and cultural heritage while creating economic opportunities for local communities.
A world where tourism serves as a force for environmental conservation and community development, where travelers return home as ambassadors for the places and people they've encountered.
Our values center on environmental stewardship through leave-no-trace practices and active conservation initiatives; community empowerment by employing local guides, partnering with community-owned businesses, and reinvesting in development projects; cultural preservation of Abasuba traditions and knowledge through respectful engagement with community elders; and educational impact by helping visitors understand the ecological and cultural significance of the places they experience, fostering appreciation that leads to conservation.

Sustainability is at the core of everything we do. We minimize environmental impact through careful waste management, support local conservation initiatives, and operate with a leave-no-trace philosophy. Our eco-friendly accommodations and transportation options ensure your adventure contributes to environmental preservation rather than degradation.
We reject mass tourism in favor of meaningful cultural exchanges and genuine connections. Our experiences are designed with input from local communities, ensuring respectful engagement with traditions, crafts, and lifestyles.
